It's been a long time since I posted a topic of my own, except for the geeks are us board, but I just had this on my mind, so thought I'd post it here instead of lets talk. How would you program a robots' personality if you could program one? I'll go first. Since the robot might be put in situations where it would have to deal with people in all kinds of moods and different personalities, I would program it so it would always be polite and courteous, after all, the reason we are not always kind and courteous is that all too often, feelings and emotions get in the way. I think the best thing about an android, a robot made to be more human like, is if there were robots like that, they would have peoples' better qualities, without the worst. They would be incapable of getting their feelings hurt, or being made angry. And, no, I certainly wouldn't program a robot to be like me. lol.

An interesting question, though the answer has to do with whether you see them as an artificial intelligence on their own right or not. Will you consider them sentient?
well, I don't know what you mean by sentient, but since they would be artificially intelligent, they would be able to actas if they had feelings toward the person, sympathy, kindness, humor, etc. I would guess they'd be able to adapt themselves to the personality of the person they were with.

Sentient basically means living or alive. Would you consider the robot as or like another human being?
I had to go to yourdictionary.com and look that up, lol. But, I'm not sure I'd consider the robot to be alive, or to have feelings, but you could program it to treat people as if it did have. Obviously if it had feelings of its own, it wouldn't work, because it would then treat people with hostility, impatience, irritability, etc. I think if it were alive, it would have feelings.

Not all people are like that. I know this teacher, he never seems to get mad. Seriously, I am very greatful of his kindness. I mean, I would still have my robot stand up for itself, but certainly not program it after me. No, I have gone through so much it's not even funny. I mean people want to be like me, I am a model for this one place, and people seem to think I am one big hero, but seriously, why? One that stands up for themselves shouldn't be worship for Christ Sake. Maybe, have my brains, yes, but my temper would make it be a damn horrible robot. Everyone would hate it. It would be a shitty disgrace.
